WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After claiming the 2016 ACC Tournament crown on Sunday, Wake Forest men’s soccer has been selected as the No. 2 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.

Earning a first-round bye with the No. 2 seed, the Demon Deacons will host the winner of Coastal Carolina and Radford on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at Spry Stadium. The Deacs’ opponent will be determined on Thursday night when Coastal Carolina hosts the Highlanders in Conway, S.C.

"It's exciting to see your name up on the board with the best programs in the country," said Wake Forest head coach Bobby Muuss. "Trying to come down from the high of winning the ACC Championship on Sunday, now we have a focus and that's on the winner of Coastal Carolina and Radford. By no means did we get an easy draw but I don't think anyone in the country got an easy draw. We're happy the committee rewarded these guys for their body of work and having one of the best seasons in college soccer, but we're excited about the opportunities in front of us."

The Demon Deacons earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament for the third time in program history. Last time Wake Forest was the No. 2 seed was in 2007, when the Demon Deacons claimed the national championship. In 2006, Wake Forest was also the No. 2 seed and went to the College Cup but was eliminated by UC Santa Barbara in penalty kicks after a scoreless draw through 110 minutes.

Coastal Carolina is coming off a Sun Belt championship, which it won 1-0 on Sunday against Georgia State. Jair Espinoza scored in the 68th minute as the Chanticleers held on for the victory in its first season competing in the conference. Standing at 9-6-3, CCU is led by Frantzdy Pierrot, who scored seven goals and five assists thus far for a team-high 19 points. Martin Melchor is second on the team with five goals and five assists. This season, Coastal Carolina has allowed 15 goals and posted eight shutouts thus far.

Radford earned its place in the Big Dance with a 14-3-2 record on the season and a Big South championship to go with it when it beat Longwood for the title on Sunday. The Highlanders are led by three players with five goals apiece in Jakob Strandsater, Sivert Daehlie and Kieran Roberts. Between the pipes, Aitor Pouseu Blanco has started 18 of 19 games and is 14-2-2 on the year. He has 10 shutouts and has allowed just 10 goals. Radford in total has allowed just 11 goals all season.

Last year, Radford took on Charlotte in a first-round matchup with the winner advancing to play Wake Forest. The 49ers advanced through that game with a 2-1 victory over the Highlanders in Charlotte. In the 2015 NCAA Tournament, Coastal Carolina topped North Florida 1-0 in the first round before falling on the road at No. 5 seed North Carolina, 2-1.
