Wake lands big commitment in Chase Monroe

Davidson Day (NC) inside linebacker Chase Monroe previously narrowed down his options to a top three of Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Wake Forest.

On Saturday afternoon, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound three-star recruit announced his commitment Wake Forest over the SEC programs.

"I just really believe in everything they are doing," Monroe said. "I believe I can go there, start early, and help them win an ACC Championship.

"I have a really great relationship with the whole staff as well."

The Wake coaching staff, who he has grown very close to, was thrilled to hear the news that Monroe wanted to commit.

"They were pumped up," said Monroe. "They got the No. 1 inside linebacker in the Carolinas."

Monroe has a message for Wake Forest fans.

"With everything Wake is doing, they are becoming a football school," he said. "Better facilities are bringing in awesome recruits. The 2017 class is so pumped for the fans to come support us.

"We are going to give 110% to the university and bring the hard work that the team is building now to an ACC Championship."
