Transcript of Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson's interview with the ACC Digital Network
On if Wake Forest is at the point where they can go to a bowl game
Clawson: "That's certainly our goal. We've made a lot of investments in our program the last two years, whether it's the McCreary Field House, which is a brand new indoor (facility) that's as nice as any in the country, to the recruiting, the redshirting, the playing all the freshman and sophomores a year ago - the program is certainly on more solid foundation than at any point that we've been there."
On being able to stay on track with his original plan at Wake
Clawson: "Absolutely. I think we're right on track in every measurement of our program, whether it's strength numbers, speed numbers, GPA's, APR, graduation success rate - all of those things. All the numbers are up. I always think the third year is a big year, because at this point, two-thirds of the players came to Wake Forest to play for our staff, and the upperclassmen, the majority of them that are there have bought in. I've always found that the third year is a big year. The locker room is more unified; the culture of the program is set. There becomes a internal competition, and it becomes more of a player-led program than a coach-led program. All of those things are happening in our program right now."
