NASSAU, The Bahamas - The Wake Forest men’s basketball team concluded its three-game tour of the Bahamas with a 104-57 victory over the Real Deal Shockers Thursday night at the Sir Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium. The Demon Deacons won all three games on their trip.

The Demon Deacons topped the University of Toronto 93-72 on Tuesday and Bahamian club CTG Knights 90-78 on Wednesday in their first two games of the tour.

“I thought the first half we were very lethargic,” said head coach Danny Manning. “We didn’t have a lot of energy and were careless with the ball. We had a much better intensity level in the second half. Once we get to league play, if we have that type of first half, we will be down quite a few points. We shared that with our guys.”

Bryant Crawford had 14 points to lead the Deacons in scoring for the second straight game. Keyshawn Woods had 12 points along with team-high six rebounds and five assists. Austin Arians scored 11 points and Greg McClinton scored in double figures for the first time on the tour with 10 points,

The Deacs took control of the game early, surging to an early 19-5 lead in the first quarter. They led 21-10 after the opening 10 minutes. Wake Forest built on its lead in the second quarter, taking a 38-22 lead into intermission. Arians led the Deacs with 11 first-half points, including a 3-pointer at the end of the half.

Wake Forest opened the third quarter on a 10-0 run and extended the lead to 71-37 at the end of three periods. The Deacons continued to push the lead over the final 10 minutes, eclipsing the 100-point mark for the first time on the trip in closing out the 104-57 win.

“It is August and we know we have to get better,” said Manning. “It is a gradual thing and this trip allowed us to get a jump start with some early practices and some games. Hopefully we will go home, start school, and when we restart out workouts, we only have to refresh some things and not start from scratch.”

All 15 players who took the floor for the Demon Deacons on the night scored, including the first points of the tour by Anthony Bilas (9 points), Britton Anderson (2 points) and Troy Rike (2 points).

“It is always nice to see when everyone has a chance to score,” said Manning. “I thought Bilas made some nice shots there at the end. For us, as coaches, it is nice to see everyone leave the island with a smile on their face.”

The Real Deal Shockers were led by Salathiel Dean, who scored a game-high 18 points.

Demon Deacons will do a clinic at a local school and take a catamaran tour on Friday before returning to Winston-Salem on Saturday.
