Wake Forest has been picked to finish 13th in the ACC’s preseason poll for the upcoming basketball season.

The Deacons were picked ahead of Pittsburgh (14th) and Boston College. Duke was picked as the preseason favorite, garnering 47 of 81 votes to win the ACC.

Wake Forest is coming off a 6-16 (3-15 ACC) season and will feature eight newcomers this season – four freshmen and four transfers. The Deacons have a fifth freshman on the roster, Carter Whitt, but he played for the Deacons last season after graduating high school early and enrolling in December.

The lone individual player to receive recognition was freshman Cameron Hildreth, who had one vote (of 81) to be the ACC’s freshman of the year. The winner in that category was Duke’s Paolo Banchero with 65 votes, and he was also selected as the league’s preseason player of the year.
