Jake's Journal: Entry One

Each month leading up to National Signing Day, DeaconsIllustrated.com will post "Jake's Journal" - a series of journal entries written by Wake Forest outside linebacker commit Jake Simpson.

Simpson will talk about his high school season, his thoughts about Wake Forest, and how his commitment will going.

I am very excited about this season and the guys we have on the team this year. I think a lot of the guys have a great understanding of what it takes for us to complete our goal. We have had a lot of guys step up and that's promising.

Last Friday we played Tucker, and they were very good. I am excited about how we responded when things weren't going our way to come out with the win.

I can't wait to get up to Wake and watch the guys compete. I have been keeping up with the team, and I can't express how glad I am to be a part of the family. It will be fun to get a feel for the game atmosphere and watch some ACC football as well as speak with the coaches.

I feel as if everything is going great with the Wake coaches. When I think about the staff, I can't find a flaw. I believe they are a bunch of great men and I can not even begin to complain with any part of their recruitment process. Multiple coaches are constantly checking in and writing me letters, and all of them make it very evident that if I ever need anything to let them know. Also, I really think I will do well under Coach Lea. He is a great man and very disciplined when going about his work.

No I have not considered or been speaking with any other schools.
