Stubblefield replaces Galloway

The Albuquerque Journal's Rick Wright reported New Mexico wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield has left the Lobos for Wake Forest.

New Mexico has not announced Stubblefield's departure, and Wake Forest has yet to introduce him as a part of its football program.

However, the new assistant coach joined head coach Jim Grobe on an in-home visit to Demon Deacon commitment Tyree Harris Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Stubblefield also changed his employment status on his Facebook page to Wake Forest's wide receivers coach.

He replaces Lonnie Galloway, who returned to West Virginia.

The Lobos finished 4-9 (1-7 MWC) in Stubblefield's only season in Albuquerque, completing a meager 79 of 154 passes for a porous 895 yards and five touchdowns through the air to four interceptions.

Stubblefield also made coaching stops at Central Michigan (2011), Illinois State (2009-10), Eastern Michigan (2008) and Central Washington (2007).

The Yakima, Wash. native was an All-American wide receiver at Purdue. Stubblefield, who was a Biletnikoff Award finalist in 2004, set an NCAA record with 316 career receptions and finished second in Big Ten history with 3,629 receiving yards.

He played professionally with the NFL's Carolina Panthers and St. Louis Rams and the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
