Artis details Oregon commitment
Coach Dana Altman's tremendous ability to recruit has just shown up again. Four-star point guard Dominic Artis and the nation's 52nd-ranked player has committed to join Altman's team in Eugene. The addition of Artis follows a long line of great Oregon point guards that include Luke Ridnour and Aaron Brooks in recent years. Artis has a chance to be equally as good at the college level.
"I hadn't been to Oregon and everyone said it might be all dark and gloomy and everything but it wasn't anything like that at all," said Artis, "It's just a great college town and I loved it. Everyone's really into supporting the Ducks. I went to the football game with Jabari (Brown) and Bruce Baron and it was great. The coaches and the players are really cool and they're all one team, you can feel it."
Artis was initially committed to UCLA before de-committing and opening his recruiting back up. He brings insanely good ball handling skills and when asked what he was most excited to do in Eugene he had a one-word answer, "Win. I want to come there and win games and win championships and put up banners as a team. That's what it's all about. On my visit I got to sit in on practice and everyone just goes really hard. The coaches are pushing them off the court the guys are cool. They have a great chemistry. I also got to see the midnight madness and the athleticism is great. I love the idea that we have the horses to run with."
