What can Brown do for you?

Durham (NC) Jordan athlete John Brown is known for being multi-dimensional, and he continues to prove that this spring with strong performances at the Rivals.com U.S. Army National All-Combine, the Shrine Bowl Combine and most recently Sunday, April 1 at the Rivals/VTO NC Elite 100 Combine in Charlotte.

Rivals.com's Keith Niebuhr ranked Brown as the most versatile running back at the Rivals/VTO Combine. He ran a 4.03 in the shuttle at the one-day event, and a 4.39 at the Shrine Bowl Combine Saturday, March 24.

Brown, who is being recruited as an athlete with the options of playing running back or cornerback at the collegiate level, participated in Charlotte as a running back. He prefers offense over defense.

"I'm preparing for both [running back and cornerback] right now," Brown said.

The 5-foot-11, 187-pounder hopes to widen his sphere of interest from just in-state schools to outside of the Tar Heel State.

"I want to try to look at Delaware, and I want to try to go to Clemson and Virginia," Brown said.

He continues to hear from Duke and North Carolina, and recently made trips to Duke and East Carolina.

"It was a pretty good visit [to ECU]," Brown said. "I got to meet all of the coaches. They gave great hospitality there."

Brown plans to attend NC State, UNC and Wake's spring football games. He went to Duke's Saturday, March 31.

The Durham athlete earned Honorable Mention honors for the Rivals.com U.S. Army National All-Combine Team: Offense after an impressive performance in San Antonio in January.

In a disappointing 3-8 campaign last season for his team Brown gutted out a tough 860 yards rushing.
