Vanderbilt-Wake Forest Series
Vanderbilt-Wake Forest Notes
VU: Under Head Coach James Franklin, the Commodores are 5-2 in the month of November. In the decade before Franklin arrived on campus, Vanderbilt was 3-32 in November games.
VU: Andre Hal (Jr., CB) was recognized as the SEC's Defensive Player of the Week Monday for his two-interception effort in Vanderbilt's 41-18 victory over Tennessee. Hal becomes the sixth Commodore to earn SEC weekly honors this year.
VU: Under James Franklin, the Commodores have registered four victories in Southeastern Conference action by 23 or more points. From 1957-2010, the Commodores had four total wins against SEC opponents by 23 points or more. The decisive wins under Franklin have come against Ole Miss (30-7, Sept. 9, 2011), Kentucky (38-8, Nov. 12, 2011), Kentucky (40-0, Nov. 3, 2012) and Tennessee (41-18, Nov. 17, 2012).
VU: The Vanderbilt defense is on pace to allow the fewest total points in nearly 40 years. At the same time, the Commodore offense is contending for a similar accomplishment. The Commodore defense, who has registered two shutouts this season, is allowing just 18.0 points per game. The current average is 4.1 points less than a year ago, and approaching the team's season best for scoring defense (16.6 ppg in 1974) since the 1970 season.
VU: The Vanderbilt offense is averaging 27.0 points. That average is just 0.2 points off the 2005 total that ranks as the Commodore high mark since 1970.
WFU: CB Allen Ramsey recorded his first interception of the season when he picked off a pass in the end zone vs. Notre Dame.
WFU: The Deacons are looking to become bowl eligible with a victory against the Commodores.
WFU: CB Kevin Johnson broke up three passes against Notre Dame, giving him a team-best 15 on the year.
WFU: P Alexander Kinal punted 10 times against the Irish, setting a new school single-season record for punts with 90. He also tied the ACC record set by Dan DeArmas of Maryland in 1991.
