strong academic reputations.
Lucas has maintained a 3.0 GPA.
Princeton invited Lucas to its Junior Day, which is set for April 14. Boston College, Duke, Wake Forest and Wofford have also shown interest. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder attended Wake Forest's Junior Day Saturday, Feb. 25.
"It went real well," Lucas said. "It felt like a small campus."
Derrick Jackson is recruiting Lucas for the Demon Deacons.
Lucas, who had a good relationship with Steve Russ is starting fresh with Jackson.
"He's [Jackson] cool," Lucas said.
The Durham product lists NC State, Princeton, Wake Forest and Wofford as his top four.
Lucas plays rover, enabling him to act as a safety or linebacker depending on the scheme. He has also seen action at cornerback.
He recorded 120 tackles last season to help lead Southern to a 7-4 record and a state playoff appearance.
"[My strengths are] my smarts, my IQ of the game, my leadership abilities, [and] I'm coachable," Lucas said.
Lucas will be in Charlotte for the Rivals.com/VTO Elite 100 Combine April 1.
He plans to attend one-day camps at Duke, NC State, North Carolina and Wake Forest this summer.
